During Karen Charbonneau's 23+ years of working in real estate, she has helped over 400 families find, purchase and live in the homes of their dreams. She has helped entrepreneurs create a positive cash flow from well-chosen investment properties and has been blessed with assisting seniors who are ready to downsize to sell the homes in which they raised their children.
Karen Charbonneau works closely with other financiers interested in buying to rent, or buying to renovate and resell. In addition, Karen was an active, hands-on licensed contractor, and continues as an investor for her own personal real estate investments.
A native of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, Karen Charbonneau developed an early interest in construction and craftmanship by watching her grandfather build boats in his workshop. As a natural athlete who excelled in field hockey, in high school Karen was drawn to coaching youth in a local town recreation program. After serving the nation in the Army, Karen worked her way through the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, earning a bachelor's degree in computer science and business.
In the mid-1990's, after several years working for a software company, Karen's childhood interests in building and construction and her talent for working with people led her into real estate as an independent contractor. She supplemented her real estate work in Massachusetts and Connecticut by leading her own construction company, purchasing and renovating several homes for re-sale.
Always a community-minded entrepreneur, Karen Charbonneau has consistently worked with non-profit and civic organizations wherever she lives. As a resident of Saratoga Springs area since 2010, Karen is now President-Elect of the Wilton Rotary Club; the Vice-Chair of the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce's Veterans Business Council; a 2015 graduate of the Chamber's year-long Leadership Saratoga program; and a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity. She also has served the community through Wilton Kiwanis, Saratoga Hospital Nursing HOme, and the Wiawaka Center for Women on the shores of Lake George.
"My goal has always been to educate buyers and sellers alike in order to embolden clients to be able to make confident decisions supporting their individual wants and needs.
I am a seasoned negotiator, having worked on many bank owned properties, both short-sells and foreclosures; as you can imagine, there were innumerable tough closing situations and I know that my experiences taught me many hard earned and indispensable arbitration skills." -- Karen Charbonneau
Karen Totino's interest in real estate has developed from her core belief that our homes have a significant impact on our health and wellness. This inspired Karen previously to develop two local businesses focused on energy efficient building and non-toxic interior finishes and materials, and organic gardening and landscaping.
As a result of her entrepreneurial background, Karen Totino has extensive knowledge of energy-efficient building techniques, remodeling and renovation and she is committed to creating and customizing healthy living home environments. Karen is dedicated to inspiring and educating people on the benefits of sustainable building and designing “green.”
Karen Totino's community interests include conservation and support for independent, locally-owned retailers. She established the shop Green Conscience Home & Garden in Saratoga Springs in 2009 and previously operated Green Conscience Organic Lawn Care. She attended Russell Sage College, earning a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
"With my unique background in healthy homes, energy efficient building/renovation, and helping seniors are in place, I plan to fill an important niche in the Saratoga County real estate market."
